In iOS 18, you can enlarge the album cover to full full size by tapping on the thumbnail in the music app. Apple Music sets the album’s main colour as a background for the interface to bring everything together. In iOS 26, when playing music, the artwork will move and change on the full screen.

With the release of iOS 26, Apple might give music fans a more immersive experience on their phones. According to 9to5Mac, the update will let you use the full screen animated album artwork in the Now Playing widget on the Lock Screen. This simple adjustment could add more excitement to using Apple Music.

WWDC 25 preview

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote on June 9 may reveal iOS 26 and other updates from Apple. The keynote will begin at 10 a.m. on the Pacific Coast and 1 p.m. on the Eastern Coast. Developer previews will take place shortly after, and the public beta test will begin in July. This year, new iPhones may come in September, with iPads following shortly after.

Animated artwork

The latest iOS version allows Apple Music to add animated artwork to some playlists and albums. Most of the animations so far have remained only in the Music app. Apple wants users to have a more active and engaging experience by showing animations on the Lock Screen.

Even though the feature adds a stylish touch, it also makes people concerned. Some users are concerned about how the app affects the battery and how it recognises motion. A button to switch off animations, much like the one found in the Music app, would make a positive difference for some users.
