Uttarakhand: Chopper crashes near Kedarnath, 7 dead
7 people were onboard the chopper which crashed in a forest. Reports claimed that technical problems and the inclement weather conditions led to the crash. Rescue teams have been dispatched to the crash site.
Kedarnath:
Seven people were killed after a chopper crashed between Gaurikund and Sonprayag. NDTV reported that the Aviation Helicopter was flying from the Kedarnath temple to Guptkashi and had pilgrims onboard.
Technical problem, weather led to crash
Rescue teams have been dispatched to the crash site. This is the fifth accident since the Kedarnath Temple opened for pilgrims this season on May 2.
Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took to social media platform, ‘X’ to pray for the pilgrims aboard the chopper. He wrote, “Very sad news has been received about a helicopter crash in Rudraprayag district. SDRF, local administration and other rescue teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all the travelers.”

Initially, the authorities had reported a missing chopper. But locals who were out in the forest to collect fodder for their cattle reported a crashed chopper and this led to the discovery of the unfortunate incident.
