A brand new controversy has hit Tinseltown. This time, it’s Sandeep Reddy Vanga vs. Deepika Padukone. For those who missed the drama on X (formerly Twitter), the Kabir Singh filmmaker took a sharp jibe at actress Deepika following her sudden exit from the Prabhas-led film Spirit.

Without mincing words, SRV suggested that a breach of trust had occurred after elements of his film’s story were allegedly leaked. “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are… Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?” he wrote. His post continued with a stinging note: “As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it.”

The director’s frustration appeared further evident in his concluding remark, written in Hindi: “Aisa karo… Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. #dirtyPRgames. I like this kahawath very much 🙂 Why did Deepika Padukone walk out of Spirit?

Speculation around Deepika’s exit had been circulating for days. It was reported that her demands, which allegedly included an eight-hour workday, a sizeable remuneration, and a share in the film’s profits, had clashed with the Animal filmmaker’s working style. Given her recent transition into motherhood, it’s believed that the Jawan actress has been attempting to prioritise a healthier work-life balance, which may have contributed to her departure.
