Now, with the final episode of the second season premiering, it has left many confused and in shock after the surprising twists, setting the stage for Season 3. The show has also stayed true to the video game, ‘The Last Of Us Part 2’ and those who have played it, the last scene wasn’t that shocking, afterall.

The Last of Us ending explained

Jesse and Ellie finally have a confrontation, admitting that he was in love with Dina. He opened up about how he fell in love with a girl heading to Mexico, but couldn’t go with her because he owed it to the people of Jackson. They then argue about the morals. Later, a storm hits Seattle as something big brews among the WLF with Isaac.

In the final episode of The Last of Us, Ellie revealed to Dina that she had tortured Nora to get Abby’s location and then left her to be infected. She then revealed everything to Dina about Salt Lake City, including Joel’s hospital massacre, which left Dina shocked as she learned about what Joel had done to save her.

As Jesse and Ellie get out of Seattle, the former guessed Dina was pregnant and there’s something going between her and Ellie. On their trip to rendezvous location, they witnessed a skirmish between the Washington Liberation Front and the Seraphites. On the other hand, Ellie wants to help Scar but Jesse reminded her that it is not possible as it will put them all in danger.

Ellie finally goes out on her revenge mission and figures out Nora’s cryptic clue about where Abby was supposedly hiding, in the aquarium near the Ferris wheel. Instead of going to meet Tommy, Ellie abandoned Jesse in pursuit of her revenge mission and took a boat to a pier through choppy water, but her boat capsized the washed up on the shore. She was then captured by some men, who were about to kill he, but she was saved and fled on her boat again. Eventually, she made it to the pier and planned to kill her enemy. In her hunt, she meets Mel and Own and forces them to give Abby’s location.

In a surprising twist, Ellie was traumatised by the whole incident and decided to let go Abby, However, Abby showed up at the theatres where Jesse, Tommy, Dina and Ellie were hiding out. Abby, seeking revenge for Mel and Owen’s deaths, shot Ellie point blank, however, it was all a dream. In the final scenes, Abby wakes up at the actual SoundView Stadium in Seattle, which has become WLF’s compound.

Own then tries to kill Ellie, but she fires back, accidentally killing Own and Mel. In her dying moments, Mel admitted to being pregnant and asked Ellie to cut the baby out, but she couldn’t do it.
