Mumbai mega block: Local & express train services to remain

A 36-hour engineering block at Kandivali Yard from May 30 to June 1 will disrupt Mumbai's Western Railway. Over 100 local trains are cancelled, and long-distance services face delays or rerouting. Passengers should check updated schedules before travelling.

Mumbai:

The planned block will begin at 1:00 PM today  and continue until 1:00 AM on Monday, June 2. During this period, both the fifth line and the yard lines will be non-operational, leading to the cancellation of a large number of suburban services and operational changes to long-distance trains.

Commuters on Mumbai’s Western Railway network are set to experience widespread disruptions this weekend as a significant 36-hour engineering block has been scheduled for the dismantling of an elevated booking office at Kandivali Yard. Mail/Express trains to operate on fast lines: CPRO

In this regard, Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Western Railway, mentioned that during the block duration, suburban trains and express trains operate on fast lines. “A few long distance trains will be affected while some suburban train services will be cancelled,” he added, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Multiple Mumbai bound long distance trains to also remain affected

Several long-distance routes will also be affected. The Ahmedabad–Borivali Express, scheduled for departure on May 30 and 31, will terminate early at Vasai Road, disrupting travel for those commuting between Vasai Road and Borivali. In a similar adjustment, the Borivali–Nandurbar Express, departing on May 31 and June 1, will now commence its journey from Bhayandar instead of Borivali.

The Nandurbar–Borivali Express on May 31 will also terminate at Vasai Road, while the Borivali–Ahmedabad Express scheduled for June 1 will originate from Vasai Road, bypassing Borivali entirely. Western Railway has encouraged passengers to consult station officials for updated schedules and detailed information on cancellations. Travellers are advised to plan ahead and stay informed about the revised arrangements to avoid inconvenience.

Over 100 local trains affected/cancelled

On Saturday, a minimum of 73 local services are expected to be cancelled, followed by 89 more on Sunday. To manage the disruption, suburban and long-distance express trains will be rerouted onto the fast lines to maintain service continuity.
