Bengaluru auto driver killed as tree falls amid heavy rainfall
An auto-rickshaw driver died in Bengaluru’s Katriguppe after a tree fell on his vehicle during heavy rain and strong winds. The city continues to face waterlogging, traffic jams, and weather alerts as rains persist across multiple areas.

Heavy rains and strong winds in Bengaluru threw normal life out of gear across the city. In a tragic incident, an auto-rickshaw driver lost his life when a large tree fell on his vehicle in Katriguppe, near MM Bar.
Heavy flooding in parts of Bengaluru, traffic affected
For the past two days, Bengaluru has been experiencing heavy rainfall in areas like Richmond Town, Shanthinagar, Majestic, KR Market, Rajajinagar, and more.
Roads in many parts of the city are waterlogged, leading to traffic jams. People took shelter at bus stops and shop fronts as bikers struggled through the flooded streets.
IMD warns of more rain
In Chikkamagaluru district, heavy winds blew the roof off a house, injuring children inside. In Tripura village of Mudigere taluk, a woman’s house was damaged due to the storm. The weather department has said that South Karnataka may continue to experience strong winds and rain from May 2 to May 4.
The India Meteorological Department warned that more rain, along with hail, is expected over the next few hours. Wind speeds are likely to reach 40–60 kmph in some areas. Due to the bad weather, the Bengaluru Traffic Police reported slow-moving traffic across the city.
