4 dead after house collapses amid heavy rains, thunderstorms in Delhi
People in Delhi and NCR wake up to heavy rains and thunderstorms on Friday morning. Several airlines have issued advisories asking passengers to check flight status.

While a structure at the Terminal 3 at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) also collapsed due to the weather, as many as 40 have been diverted and over 100 flights were delayed at the airport. Several airlines have also asked passengers to check flight status and leave for the airport early.
Issuing a statement, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), which operate the airport said, “Our on-ground teams are diligently working with all stakeholders to ensure a seamless and efficient passenger experience.” Apart from DIAL several airlines also issued advisories.
At least four people lost their lives after their house collapsed in Delhi’s Najafgarh area after heavy rains and thunderstorms create mayhem in the city and other parts of the capital in early hours of Friday morning. Among the dead included three children and their mother. The weather department has also issued red alert in the National Capital and adjoining areas due to sudden change in weather
Air India, Indigo issue advisories for passengers
“Thunderstorms and gusty winds have affected flight operations in parts of Northern India. Some of our flights to and from Delhi are being delayed, which is likely to impact our overall flight schedule. We are doing our best to minimise disruptions ,” a post by Air India said on X.
Another advisory by IndiGo read, “A thunderstorm has been forecast in Delhi, and changing weather conditions may affect flight schedules to and from the city. If you’re travelling today, we recommend checking your flight status for real-time updates and planning to leave a little earlier than usual, as weather may impact road traffic too.”
Waterlogging in several parts of Delhi-NCR
Many areas in Delhi and NCR also witnessed waterlogging with visuals emerging localities like Khanpur, Dwarka, South Extension Ring Road, Lajpat Nagar, Minto Road and Moti Bagh. Many trees were also uprooted in several areas. The weather has also advised people to assess the weather conditions and move outside only when required.
