Bengaluru:
Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that after the good response to earlier services like the Bengaluru Darshini and Isha Foundation tours—which saw over 50,000 people travelling in just one year—BMTC is now launching this new temple tour. The trip will be in air-conditioned buses and will include visits to eight popular temples across the city and nearby areas.
The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has announced a new spiritual tour called ‘Divya Darshana’ to encourage temple visits in and around the city. This special bus tour will begin on May 31 and will be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

The ticket prices are ₹450 for adults and ₹350 for children. These rates include GST. People can book their tickets in advance on the KSRTC website (www.ksrtc.in). For more information, BMTC has shared two helpline numbers: 080-22483777 and 7760991170.
The tour will begin at Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic) at 8:30 a.m. and end at the same place by 6:05 p.m. The route will include stops at Sri Gali Anjaneya Swami Temple, Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple, Shrungagiri Sri Shanmukha Swami Temple, Sri Devi Karumaari Ammanavara Temple, Omkar Hills Temple, ISKCON Vaikunta Temple in Vasanthapura, the Art of Living Sri Ravishankar Ashram, and Banashankari Temple.
More buses in BMTC fleet
The Ministry of Heavy Industries recently announced that under the PM E-DRIVE scheme (which stands for PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement), 10,900 electric buses will be given to five major cities. Bengaluru will receive the largest share—4,500 electric buses. Other cities include Delhi with 2,800 buses, Hyderabad with 2,000, Ahmedabad with 1,000, and Surat with 600.
Apart from the temple tour, BMTC will also start a new non-air-conditioned bus route from May 26. The new service is called NICE-6T and will run between Tavarekere and Electronics City. The bus will travel through Kadabagere Cross, Gollarahatti, and the NICE Road. Two buses will be used on this route, and each will make two trips a day. From Tavarekere, buses will leave at 7:20 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. From Electronics City, the return trips will start at 5:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
In addition to this, BMTC is set to expand its fleet even more. The central government has approved 4,500 buses for Bengaluru under a new plan. With these new buses, BMTC’s total fleet is expected to grow to around 10,000 in the next two years.
