During the press conference, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that AIADMK and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been contesting elections together since the time of Jayalalithaa and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “We have been fighting together since 1998, from the time of Jayalalithaa ji and Atal ji. At one time, both of us fought 30 out of 39 seats in Lok Sabha,” said Amit Shah.
DMK only wants to divert from core issues: Amit Shah
Speaking further, he said, “Within Tamil Nadu, the DMK party is raising issues like Sanatana Dharma, free language policy and many such issues. Its only aim is to divert attention from the core issues. In the upcoming elections, the people of Tamil Nadu are going to vote on the issues of rampant corruption, law and order, and atrocities on Dalits and women by the DMK government. I am confident that the NDA will achieve another landslide victory in the upcoming elections, leading to the formation of an NDA government in Tamil Nadu once again.”
‘BJP won’t interfere with internal affairs of AIADMK’
When asked whether O Panneerselvam will also be part of the alliance, the Home Minister said, ” This is the internal matter of the AIADMK. We won’t interfere with the party’s interference in the matter.”
