Dust storm hits parts of Delhi-NCR, IMD issues red alert
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR on Friday warning of rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning.

The previous day, similar weather was seen in parts of Delhi-NCR, which resulted in a brief spell of rain, bringing down the temperatures. The weather department has reported that heavy rain and strong winds have damaged crops in many regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR on Friday warning of rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning. The weather service predicted thunderstorms and light rain for the day. Delhi also experienced an overcast sky on Friday morning.
Due to the intermittent rainfall that occurred at night, Delhi’s lowest temperature dropped to 22.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees higher than usual. According to the weather department, a meteorological station in Mayur Vihar recorded 5.0 mm of rainfall during the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m., while Pritampura received 1.0 mm.
Parts of Delhi-NCR experienced a strong dust storm on Friday evening, that led to power outages in some areas. Dark clouds accompanied strong winds and dust storms in many localities within the national capital. The sudden gusts of wind and the dark clouds brought relief from the heatwave and rising temperatures.
Apart from this, IMD has also predicted dust storms in the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, as well as other localities, for Friday (April 11) as well as tomorrow Saturday (April 12) whereas thunderstorms are expected in Rajasthan’s north and northwest.
