Fadnavis shared his thoughts on meeting with the former Indian skipper on his ‘X’ handle. He expressed both admiration and best wishes for Rohit, who boasts a tally of 4301 runs in Test cricket.
“It as great to welcome, meet and interact with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma at my official residence Varsha. I extended my best wishes to him on his retirement from Test cricket and for continued success in the next chapter of his journey!”
Rohit Sharma, who recently bid adieu to Test cricket met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday at his official residence ‘Varsha’. The meeting marked the occasion of celebrating the Test career of the former Indian skipper. Rohit Sharma hung his boots after starting his Test journey in 2013 against West Indies in November. He went on to represent in 67 Tests. He amassed 4,301 runs with an average of 40.57. Also, his knock of 212 stands out as a highlight from the 2019 home series against South Africa. He signs off from the longest format of the game as the 16th highest run-scorer.
After Fadnavis shared the photographs of the visit, the netizens discussed Rohit entering the political arena. Although, there aren’t any clear signs of such things happening, the social media users flooded the platforms with the speculation.
Notably, he is India’s leading run-scorer and century-maker in the World Test Championship (WTC) history and is 10th overall in the highest run-getters. He has racked up 2716 runs with an average of 41.15 which includes highest individual score of 212. Rohit had also captained the Indian team in the 2023 WTC final against Australia in the UK, where the national side suffered a defeat.
