Will Bengaluru rains affect RCB vs KKR match today?

Bengaluru faces heavy rain and thunderstorms with a yellow alert from IMD. Showers may affect the RCB-KKR IPL match. Rain continues until May 20, signalling early monsoon in Karnataka. Warm days contrast with cooler evenings, clearing after May 20.

Bengaluru:

After days of relentless heat, Bengaluru residents can look forward to some much-needed relief. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rain and thundershowers across the city until at least May 20. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the Karnataka capital, warning of moderate rainfall accompanied by potentially disruptive weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Cricket enthusiasts are keenly watching the skies ahead of tomorrow’s eagerly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Early monsoon arrival expected in India:

Adding to the changing weather patterns, the IMD has also indicated an early arrival of the southwest monsoon in Karnataka this year. Rains are expected to begin by the end of May, well ahead of the usual June onset, with some parts of the state forecast to receive above-average rainfall during the season.

From May 21 onwards, the skies should begin to clear, with only patchy clouds and minimal chance of rain forecast for the following two days.

Bengaluru’s weather is set to stay unsettled for the next few days, with intermittent rain and thundershowers predicted from May 17 to May 20.

Evening showers are likely to be more frequent, offering some respite from the daytime heat. Daytime temperatures could peak at 33 degrees Celsius, while lows will remain steady near 22 degrees Celsius.

Will rain affect IPL match between RCB & KKR in Bengaluru?

The IMD’s weekly forecast suggests a possibility that showers could disrupt play, with intermittent rain expected to continue throughout the week.

Temperatures are set to remain warm, with daytime highs hovering above 30 degrees Celsius and cooler nights settling around 22 degrees Celsius.

Today, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to lash several parts of the state, with winds gusting between 40 and 50 km/h. Districts likely to be hardest hit include Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Kolar, Ballari, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru.

Meanwhile, lighter but steady rain, along with occasional thunderstorms and gusty winds, is predicted for areas such as Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagaluru, Mandya, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, and Shivamogga.
