Why did Siddhu Jonnalagadda return Rs 4.75 crore to Jack’s producer?

The announcement was shared via X (formerly Twitter), where Siddhu’s team posted, “#SidduJonnalagadda returns half of his remuneration Rs 4.75 crores to the producer @SVCCofficial & @BvsnP as his previous film #Jack incurred losses. Heart Warming Gesture & Right Understanding Of Market Situations.”
Actor Siddhu Jonnalagadda made a substantial gesture following the underwhelming performance of his recent release, Jack. It has been confirmed by his public relations team that Rs 4.75 crore, half of his remuneration, was returned to the film’s producer, BVSN Prasad, in light of the financial setback faced.
All about Jack
Jack, directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar and co-starring Vaishnavi Chaitanya, had entered cinemas on 10 April amid considerable anticipation. The film was expected to capitalise on Siddhu’s rising popularity, especially after the success of Tillu Square. However, the expectations weren’t met. The film failed to strike a chord with audiences or critics.
Bommarillu Bhaskar’s last major release was Most Eligible Bachelor in 2021, which was also counted on Jack to reignite his directorial momentum. Unfortunately, the film’s lukewarm response made that goal elusive.
Described as a story about Pablo Neruda, a light-hearted R&AW aspirant who goes by the name Jack, the film featured Vaishnavi as a detective named Afshana. The storyline, however, failed to impress. According to data from Sacnilk, Jack collected Rs 7.91 crore net in India and only Rs 0.38 crore from the international market. It was criticised for its weak narrative and underwhelming execution. The film is now available for streaming on Netflix.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s work front
Next, Siddhu will be seen in Telusu Kada, a romantic drama directed by debutant Neeraja Kona. He will be joined by Raashii Khanna and Srinidhi Shetty in pivotal roles. Moreover, the actor is also preparing to reprise his popular character Tillu in the third instalment of the DJ Tillu franchise, though further details remain under wraps.
