An adaptation of the British series Luther, Rudra saw Devgn take on the role originally played by Idris Elba. His seven-episode stint reportedly earned him around ₹18 crore per episode, a sum higher than what Bollywood’s top stars were charging for films at the time. According to industry sources, the deal also included promotional commitments such as reality show appearances and social media campaigns for Star Network.

The rise of streaming platforms in India has not only transformed content but also redefined how actors are paid. With bigger productions, established film stars have stepped into the OTT space, commanding staggering fees. Leading the pack is Ajay Devgn, who reportedly charged ₹125 crore for his digital debut in Rudra: Edge of Darkness, making him India’s highest-paid OTT actor.

As streaming platforms continue to expand, the competition among Bollywood stars for premium OTT deals is expected to intensify, pushing production budgets even higher.

Other actors have also cashed in on the OTT boom. Saif Ali Khan, who led Sacred Games 2, reportedly earned between ₹15-20 crore. Varun Dhawan’s Citadel: Honey Bunny fetched him ₹12-15 crore. Meanwhile, seasoned performers like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu commanded ₹5-10 crore per project.
