IPL: Massive injury concern for RCB as Virat Kohli hurts finger while fielding in GT clash

The incident happened on the fifth ball of the 12th over during Titans' chase when Kohli misfielded a powerful shot from Sai Sudharsan and ended up hurting his finger.

New Delhi:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a major injury concern on Wednesday after star player Virat Kohli sustained an injury on his finger while attempting to stop a boundary. RCB were up against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their first home match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which they lost by 8 wickets. This was their first defeat in the ongoing edition.

All the RCB fans would be hoping that this incident does not affect his performance in the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Kohli did not have the best of the time batting as he scored just seven runs off six balls before spinner Arshad Khan claimed his wicket. RCB went on to put up a good score of 169 for the loss of eight wickets on the back of Liam Livingstone’s half-century and Tim David’s quick-fire 32 not out but Jos Buttler’s unbeaten 73 helped the Titans chase the target with 13 balls left in their innings.

Will Kohli miss RCB’s next clash?

After the incident, Kohli appeared to be in discomfort and was soon attended by the physio as he received some treatment. Kohli, after receiving some aid, carried on his fielding as the RCB fans breathed a sigh of relief. The exact extent of the injury is not known as of now but this has put a mark on his participation in RCB’s next clash as even after receiving treatment, he was seen flexing his fingers frequently.

The incident happened on the fifth ball of the 12th over during Titans’ chase when Kohli misfielded a powerful shot from Sai Sudharsan and ended up hurting his finger. It was a delivery from RCB bowler Krunal Pandya, which Sudharsan drove towards the midwicket region. The ball bounced in front of Kohli at midwicket and while attempting to stop it, he fumbled as the ball his finger badly before going for four runs.
