Virat Kohli on cusp of surpassing Rohit Sharma’s massive IPL record

IPL 2025: RCB's face Virat Kohli has been in a fine touch this season setting a perfect base for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be up against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Thursday. RCB have had a terrific season thus far and feature among the top three teams in the IPL points table.

In the overall list, West Indian Chris Gayle leads the chart with 357 maximums to his name in the cash-rich league and Rohit is on the second spot.

Kohli, who has hit 6 sixes in the ongoing season, can replace Rohit on the second position of the list of batters with most maximums in IPL.

Kohli on cusp of shattering big IPL record

Kohli, who has a knack of dealing in sixes in the shortest format, has his eyes set on Rohit Sharma’s massive IPL record and is on the verge of breaking it.

In the cash-rich league thus far, Rohit has 282 sixes in 252 innings and Kohli with 278 sixes has a chance to shatter his record.

The RCB great needs just 5 more maximums to surpass Rohit’s record and keeping in mind the nature of the game and his fine form, he could break the record against the Capitals.

Coming off a fantastic win against Mumbai Indians in their last clash, RCB would be aiming to bag a win in their maiden home game this season. RCB’s face Virat Kohli has been in a fine touch this season setting a perfect base for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Kohli, who already has two half-centuries to his name, played a pivotal role in RCB’s win over MI in the last match.
