US Vice President JD Vance to visit India next week, meet PM Modi
The Vice President of the United States of America, JD Vance has announced his visit to Italy and India, along with his wife Usha Vance, the Second Lady of the United States as confirmed by the White House.

According to a statement released by the White House, they will first visit Italy where they are to meet Italian PM Giorgia Meloni and the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Post their visit to Italy, they will head to India for a three-city tour covering New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra.
In a key diplomatic outreach, the Office of US Vice President JD Vance has officially confirmed that the Vice President and the Second Lady, Usha Vance, will undertake a visit to Italy and India from April 18 to April 24. The trip aims to reinforce bilateral ties and strengthen collaboration on shared economic and geopolitical priorities.
Their arrival coincides with the anticipated visit of US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, underscoring a broader diplomatic push by the United States in the region. It also marks Vice President Vance’s first official trip to India in his current role, further emphasizing the strategic importance of the partnership. This visit from the US Vice President comes as President Trump’s tariff war wages across the globe.
During his time in India, the Vice President will engage in high-level meetings, including a significant bilateral discussion with PM Narendra Modi. According to certain media reports, this visit by JD and Usha Vance will largely be private. However, they are going to participate in various cultural engagements at iconic Indian landmarks, showcasing the importance of people-to-people ties between the two nations.
