UIDAI rolls out face authentication feature for Aadhaar verification
The UIDAI has launched a new facial recognition feature in its mobile app for Aadhaar authentication. This eliminates the need for physical cards or copies, offering a faster, more secure verification process. This update provides enhanced convenience and security for users.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new feature in the mobile app wherein you can authenticate your Aadhaar ID through facial recognition.
Face authentication adds an extra layer of security to the Aadhaar verification process, making it more difficult to impersonate. The introduction of this new feature offers more convenience and security to the users. It is a much faster and more dependable process.
Face authentication is a process in which your Aadhaar identity is verified by a live facial image. With the rolling out of the new feature, no physical card or photocopies will be required.
Ashwini Vaishnaw at Aadhaar Samvaad
Vaishnaw emphasised how AI is like a new industrial revolution. He pointed out that Aadhaar is the ‘aadhaar’ of many initiatives and is the core of DPIs. He asked the stakeholders to share ideas on how to integrate AI with DPIs to drive the growth further. All this, while preserving the privacy, he added.
UIDAI hosted the National Level Stakeholder Conference – ‘Aadhaar Samvaad’ on Tuesday at Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre, New Delhi – a high-impact event aiming to chapter definitive course for rapid expansion of Aadhaar usage. Minister for Electronics & IT (MeitY) Ashwini Vaishnaw graced the occasion as the chief guest. The conference witnessed some very innovative tech-solutions led by Technology Centre which is expected to change the way Digital Identity travels and is shared.
