Trial run starts for Phase-1 of Route-9 – Kashigaon to Dahisar

This metro route will help reduce traffic on the busy Western Express Highway and make daily travel easier for thousands of people. Maharashtra CM called the metro network the best option for transport in cities and said that this new phase will improve the system already connecting places like Andheri.

Mumbai:

This metro route will help reduce traffic on the busy Western Express Highway and make daily travel easier for thousands of people. When asked about the ruling alliance, Fadnavis said, “All three parties are united and we are moving forward quickly with the state’s development. No one can stop this progress. If the opposition wants to support it, that’s welcome. But we won’t allow anything to slow us down.”

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that the state’s progress will not stop, and the Mahayuti government is working fast in every area. While speaking to the media at Kashigaon, which is about 20 km from Thane, he shared that the Kashigaon to Dahisar metro line, part of Mumbai’s larger metro project, is in the final testing phase and will be open to the public soon.

He called the metro network the best option for transport in cities and said that this new phase will improve the system already connecting places like Andheri. The goal is to provide smooth travel along the Western Express Highway—from NS Bose Maidan to Bandra—with work happening in different phases.

Talking about one special part of the project, the Chief Minister said, “A unique part of this work is the creation of a double-decker bridge for the first time in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).” This smart design is expected to help reduce traffic jams in areas like Mira Bhayandar.

He also spoke about plans to extend the metro all the way to Virar, and stressed how important it is to link different metro lines well so that people can travel easily from one end to another without trouble.

Fadnavis again shared that the government is focused on completing the full metro system that started back in 2015. “The large network we began will be done by the end of 2027. That is our goal, and it will really help people living in Mumbai and nearby areas,” he said.

He also confirmed that a bullet train station will be built near Vadhvan in Palghar, and work is happening to connect that properly with the rest of the transport system. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, also attended the event.

Praising the efforts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Fadnavis said the government now wants to speed up construction. “From now on, we will move faster. This year, we are building 50 km, and next year, 62 km. We’ve planned to finish the work in parts,” he said.
