This year, the MET Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The Met Gala is a charity event and fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Year after year, it raises an eight-figure amount and has traditionally been timed to mark the opening of the department’s annual fashion exhibition.

The biggest fashion night of the year, MET Gala, is all set to take place on the first Monday of May. The fashion gala will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute on May 5. While the guest list remains under wraps, other details such as theme, co-chair members, and dress code is already out.

Met Gala theme

This year, the Met Gala theme is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which draws inspiration from Monica L Miller’s 2009 book, ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’. The exhibition is divided into 12 sections, each representing a characteristic that defines dandy style.

Met Gala: Date and timings

Met Gala will take place on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The red carpet will begin around 4:30 pm EST.

Met Gala will witness a host committee featuring Angel Reese, A$ap Rocky, Pharell Williams, Usher, Jeremy Pope, Tonya Lewis Lee, Spike Lee, Ayo Edebiri, Rashid Johnson, Audra McDonald, Sha’Carri Richardson, Jeremy O Harris, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jordan Casteel, Kara Walker, Edward Enninful, Tyla, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Janelle, Monae, Lizzo, Shakira, Mary J Blige, Ashley Graham, and Amelia Gray, among others.

This year, Kiara Advani will be making her Met Gala debut. However, much information about the designer’s outfit she will wear is not out yet. Apart from her, Priyanka Chopra will return to the gala for the fifth time. Other Indian celebrities expected at Met Gala are Isha Ambani, Natasha Poonawalla, Deepika Padukone, and Mona Patel.

Some of the other celebrities expected at the Met Gala are Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Zendaya, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Zoe Zaldana, Miley Cyrus, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and others.
