Superstar Ajith Kumar’s presence in CSK vs SRH goes viral

Tamil cinema stalwart Ajith Kumar visited the Chepauk Stadium on Friday to witness the CSK vs SRH clash and made it a memorable outing as the CSK fans were left in awe with the presence of two Thalas.

New Delhi:

Superstar Ajith Kumar made his way to the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Friday to enjoy Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), leaving the fans in awe of him. The actor, who predominantly works in Tamil cinema, was spotted cheering for CSK from the Chepauk stands, and it was a rare occasion for the CSK fortress to host two “Thalas.”

It is well-known that CSK talisman MS Dhoni has long been associated with the term “Thala” (Tamil word for “leader”) as the skipper earned the nickname from the loyal fans of the franchise. However, there was another Thala present during the Friday IPL game as Ajith Kumar waved to his fans from the stands, leaving them enthralled and quickly sharing his pictures and videos on the internet.

Those very fans at the Chepauk Stadium were delighted to see Dhoni play on the field, and the megastar was enjoying the game from up above one of the stands. There was a moment when it seemed the Tamil actor waved to Dhoni, and the CSK skipper waved back at him, which was exactly what the fans wanted as they went into a frenzy.

It certainly goes beyond imagination how the celebrities are worshipped in South Indian cinema, and to talk about the Kollywood actor’s impact over the years, it has been immeasurable. Before Dhoni could become Thala, the moniker was long before earned by Ajith Kumar, who with his exceptional film performances won the hearts of many and as a result, developed a very strong fan base.

CSK succumb to 7th loss

Not the result the Kollywood icon would have wanted, CSK succumbed to their seventh loss of the season and their first-ever loss against SRH at home as well. Chepauk Stadium, which once used to be an unbreached fortress, has been conquered several times in what will be a forgettable season for the five-time IPL champions. Invited to bat first, CSK could manage a below-par 154, getting bowled out in 19.5 overs.

Sunrisers took just 18.4 overs to chase the target down and achieved their third win of the season. CSK stay at the bottom of the points table and can be ruled out of the playoffs race as they are left with just five games, having lost seven and won just two out of the nine played. Meanwhile, SRH climb to the eighth spot with six points to their credit now, in nine games.
