Sunny Deol begins shooting for Border 2 in Dehradun
Border 2 is a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by JP Dutta, among others. The film boasts a star-studded cast besides Sunny Deol includes Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty. Deol shared a glimpse of the challenging yet stunning location on Instagram. The original Borders' legacy continues with this action-packed sequel.

Sunny Deol has returned to the sets, kicking off the shoot for Border 2 in Dehradun. Giving fans a glimpse of the intense filming atmosphere, Deol shared a story on Instagram, captioned, “Reached ‘Border’ shooting — wild weather and beautiful sunset in Dehradun.” His update hints at the challenging yet beautiful landscapes where the sequel is being filmed.
About Border 2
The idea of a sequel had been brewing for years. In 2013, JP Dutta had initially announced Border 2, with plans to cast Ravinder Singh Sodhi and Nafisa Ali’s son, Ajit Sodhi. However, the project changed over time.
The official green light for the new Border 2 came on June 13, 2024, when it was confirmed that Sunny Deol would reprise his role. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is scheduled for a grand release on January 23, 2026, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend.
Carrying forward the legacy of the iconic 1997 film Border, Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh, the director known for blockbusters like Kesari and the Jatt & Juliet series. The original film’s creator, JP Dutta, returns as producer alongside his daughter Nidhi Dutta under the JP Films banner. Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar are also backing the project under T-Series.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol was last seen in Jaat, which hit the screens on April 10, 2025. Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat also featured Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Saiyami Kher in pivotal roles.
