Smriti Irani has reportedly signed the contract for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, putting an end to all speculation. The deal was sealed earlier this week, marking her official return to the iconic role of Tulsi Virani.

New Delhi:

According to a report by Zoom TV, the actress officially finalised the deal on June 8. Previously, it was widely speculated that despite having begun shooting, Smriti had yet to formalise her involvement with a contract. The agreement was reportedly sealed earlier this week by producer Ektaa.

Last year, Smriti, along with Amar Upadhyay, who originally portrayed Mihir Virani, was recently spotted at Ektaa’s birthday celebration. Actors Karishma Tanna and Anita Hassanandani also attended the star-studded event.

Tulsi Virani is all set to make a grand comeback on Indian TV very soon. For those who have missed the update, actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani has reportedly signed a contract with producer Ektaa Kapoor for the sequel to their cult classic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

All about Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

The original Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi remains one of Indian television’s most iconic serials, serving as a career-defining project for many of its cast members. Jointly produced by Shobha and Ekta Kapoor, the show followed the life of Tulsi Virani, the quintessential daughter-in-law played by Smriti, exploring her family dynamics with husband Mihir Virani (Amar Upadhyay) and their children. Premiering in 2000 alongside Kaun Banega Crorepati, it dominated TRP charts for seven consecutive years before concluding in 2008.

Notably, Smriti’s performance earned her five back-to-back Indian Television Academy Awards in the Best Actress – Popular category, along with two Indian Telly Awards.
