Samsung’s Ballie gets a brain boost with Google Gemini AI integration
Samsung and Google Cloud are teaming up to power Ballie, Samsung’s AI-driven home robot, with Gemini AI, making it a smarter, more interactive assistant launching soon. Will you witness it?
The interesting part about the robot is that it is not just about following voice commands but AI too. The collaboration of Samsung with Google Cloud
Samsung and Google Cloud have teamed up again but this time to bring Google’s Gemini AI technology to Samsung’s upcoming home companion robot, Ballie. First introduced a few years ago and more recently showcased at CES, Ballie is now gearing up for a proper launch this summer in the US and Korea, the company confirmed.
new collaboration, Ballie will come equipped with advanced AI features that make it more personal, useful, and interactive.
What is Ballie
It can help manage your schedule, greet guests at the door, adjust lighting based on your preferences, and even remind you about important tasks. If you’ve ever wanted a home device that feels more like a helpful roommate than a gadget, Ballie is Samsung’s answer.
Ballie is designed as a mobile home assistant that can do more than just play music or turn on lights. It moves around your space, understands what’s going on through its camera and sensors, and responds in a way that feels natural.
What’s new with this version of Ballie?
The biggest update is the brainpower behind it — Google Cloud’s Gemini AI. This generative AI brings what’s called “multimodal reasoning,” which means Ballie can process information from different sources — your voice, visuals, and environmental data — and use it to respond more intelligently.
Say you’re about to head out for work and you’re unsure about your outfit. You can ask Ballie, “How do I look?” Using its camera and AI smarts, it might suggest swapping your shoes or adding a brighter accessory. It’s this kind of personalized advice that makes Ballie stand out from traditional smart home devices.
When will you get this?
While Samsung hasn’t revealed every spec about Ballie just yet — like battery life, audio quality, or charging setup — we do know the focus is on delivering a helpful and friendly AI experience. Past demos even hint at features like pet monitoring and built-in projectors for displaying videos or messages.
Consumers in the US and Korea can expect to get their hands on Ballie later this year.
