Actor Saif Ali Khan was brutally attacked when an intruder entered his home in Bandra, Mumbai, leaving the family rattled. Post the tragic incident, he underwent surgery to remove a knife fragment lodged in his spine. Now, his eldest son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, recounted the traumatic night and shared what his father told him soon after coming out of the surgery.

About Saif Ali Khan’s knife attack:

In January this year, Saif Ali Khan was attacked by the intruder Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, who broke into the actor’s home and entered the room of his youngest son, Jehangir Ali Khan, with the intention of theft. When the female staff spotted him in the house, she raised an alarm, and Saif intervened to protect his son. The accused was arrested and is currently locked up in jail.

He admitted that the incident brought him closer to his father. He added, “I feel a lot closer to him now. If someone in your immediate family has a near-death experience, you don’t take them for granted. You become more present in the relationship.”

Ibrahim Ali Khan recalls Saif’s knife incident:

Speaking with GQ, Ibrahim Ali Khan shared that he was shooting when his father was stabbed around 2:30 am. However, he was informed about the incident at 5:30 am.

He recalled that he didn’t sleep that night and rushed to see his father at the hospital, adding, “He had just come out of the ICU after surgery. He opened his eyes, spoke to Sara for a bit, and asked for me. I was so happy.”

Ibrahim further recalled his first interaction with Saif post-surgery. When Ibrahim told his father that he was right there with him, Saif said, “If you were there, you would’ve beaten that guy up”, which made him weep. He expressed, “I wish I had been there. At one point, when I heard he got stabbed, I started to think of the worst-case scenario. That’s a very scary feeling.”

Clarifying that he did not drive his father to the hospital, he shared that Saif walked into the hospital himself with a knife stuck in him, and he said, ‘I need help’.
