Rains lash Hyderabad bringing respite from heat
Hyderabad experienced heavy rainfall Thursday, bringing much-needed relief from intense heat. The IMD-Hyderabad predicts rain until Sunday, with temperatures dropping 2-4 degrees Celsius. Several areas saw significant rainfall, with Kukatpally reporting the highest at 27mm. The IMD issued orange and yellow alerts for various Telangana districts, warning of thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Some of the areas which observed rain showers in the Telangana capital city are Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Jubilee Hills, Alwal, Narayanguda, Himyathnagar, and Karkhana, Alwal, Malkajgiri, Mehdipatnam, Malakpet, Kukatpally, and Khairatabad.
In a major relief to the citizens of Hyderabad from the routine intense heat, heavy rainfall was reported across the city on Thursday afternoon. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad has predicted the city to receive rains until Sunday with the day and night temperatures are expected to drop.
Kukatpally received the maximum rainfall of 27 mm among all areas followed by 22.3mm in Alwal, as per the data provided the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). Waterlogging was reported at Shakipet nala and Tankbund X road, resulting in slow moment of traffic.
The IMD-Hyderabad has also issued warnings of thunderstorm to all the districts of the Telangana state and an orange and alert was issued by the weather forecast department for several districts of the southern state for Friday with possibility of gusty winds of 40-50 kmph expected.
Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Kamareddy are the districts on Orange alert with the danger of hailstorm. The districts which fall under the yellow alert are Jagtial, Karimnagar, Pedapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhongir, Rangareddy, and Medchal-Malkagiri among others.
A similar yellow alert was issued for other southern states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala. A total of 14 districts are said to experience rainfall until Sunday. Many cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru will see the halt of the scorching heat for a while owing to the rain showers. Only five districts in the state of Kerala were under the yellow alert.
A yellow alert by IMD means the weather will be moderate to severe while the orange alert indicates to be prepared for action.
“Maximum temperatures are likely to fall slightly for today, from tomorrow gradual fall by 2 to 4 degree Celsius during next 4 days,” said the IMD-Hyderabad in its latest forecast.
