Rain alert in parts of Kerala till May 9

A yellow alert is been declared in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram districts.

 

Thiruvananthapuram: 

“Kallakkadal,” meaning “a sea that comes suddenly like a thief,” is a phenomenon characterized by a s. It’s caused by ocean swells generated by distant storms, such as hurricanes or strong gale winds. These swells can travel long distances and then suddenly surge onto the coast, causing unexpected and intense flooding. 

Meanwhile, south districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta have witnessed a humid, hot weather during the early hours of the day.

Moderate rains are expected in parts of Kerala till May 9. Scanty rainfall up in many parts of Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad is expected in the next 3 days. The moderate rainfalls has come as a huge relief for the farmers in Wayanad.

A yellow alert is been declared in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram districts.

As part of the weather changes, the beaches in Valapattanam to New Mahe is expected to witness the ‘Kallakkadal’ syndrome.
