The Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately.”

Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing for the ninth successive day on Saturday across Line of Control (LoC) amid ongoing tensions with India. Pakistani forces have resorted to unprovoked firing across LoC in last few days

Soon after the recent Pahalgam attack, India issued a number of steps against Pakistan, which included suspension of Indus Water Treaty, asking Pakistani citizens to leave India with stipulated time, reducing its staff at Islamabad High Commission office, among others. Pakistan too responded with suspension of Simla agreement, closing of its airspace for Indian airlines. Later, India too closed its airspace for Pakistani airlines. Amid increasing tensions PM Narendra Modi held several meetings with his ministerial colleagues and officials over the terror attack.

The Pakistani forces have resorted to firing in recent days across the LoC, as tensions increased between both countries after April 22 Pahalgam attack in which 26 people were killed and several others were injured. Following the development tensions have increased between both sides. A few days back, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held hotline conversation, during which the Indian side is believed to have cautioned the neighbouring country.
