PM Modi at ‘What India Thinks Today’ Global Summit
Addressing the third edition of the What India Thinks Today’ Global Summit on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that India has emerged as the strong voice of the Global South.

“The world must unite to address global challenges, one of which is the issue of energy resources. To tackle this, we established the International Solar Alliance, ensuring that even smaller nations can benefit from sustainable energy. This initiative will have a positive impact on climate change and help secure the needs of countries in the Global South. I’m pleased to share that over 100 countries have already engaged with this effort,” he noted further.
Pointing out that today India stood the world during every crisis, he noted that while many countries thought it would take several years for the vaccine to reach every corner of India, the country made its own vaccine instead and delivered it to various countries. The PM added that while India has emerged as a strong voice of the Global South, it is moving ahead strongly in the new world order.

Addressing the summit, the PM noted that today India has energized as a strong voice in the global south. He added that world is surprised to note while India earlier was the 11th largest economy in the world, it reached among top three in last ten years.
Ponting out that India has the largest youth population in the world, PM Modi further observed that the PM observed that youth of the country is not only becoming skilled rapidly but is also accelerating innovation. “Amidst all this, the mantra of India’s foreign policy has become India First. Once upon a time, India had a policy of maintaining equal distance from everyone, the policy of Equi-Distance. The policy of today’s India is… be equally close to everyone, the policy of equi-closeness,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi noted, “India has the largest youth population in the world. The youth here are accelerating development. They are giving a new mantra, which is India First. There was a time when India used to maintain equal distance from the world, but now India is maintaining equal proximity with the world. India has increased its need in the world.”
