 The excitement around the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is building once again as Mashal Sports, the league’s organisers, have finally confirmed that the Season 12 player auction will be held in Mumbai on May 31 and June 1, 2025.

The event promises to set the stage for yet another thrilling season of kabaddi action after the successful conclusion of PKL Season 11, which saw Haryana Steelers winning the trophy for the first time after beating three-time champions Patna Pirates in the final. With the new season preps gearing up, all 12 franchises are looking to rebuild and reinforce their squads. 

The league’s journey began in 2014, and over the past 11 years, eight different teams have managed to lift the trophy. The recently concluded Season 11 highlighted the sport’s growing popularity and the league’s ability to maintain fan interest entering the second decade. 

Auction to showcase strategy and star power

The upcoming Player Auction for PKL Season 12 is not just about numbers and bids; it’s where franchises lay down their strategies and ambitions for the season ahead.

Teams will aim to build balanced squads while possibly uncovering the next kabaddi superstar. With a mix of seasoned Indian players and promising international talent in the fray, the auction will also serve as a key moment to spotlight the sport’s growing global appeal.

League Chairman of the PKL and Business Head at Mashal Sports, Anupam Goswami, emphasised the importance of the auction in shaping each season.

He said, “The PKL Player Auction is the launch-pad for our teams to demonstrate their strategy, determination, and ambition to become high-performers. It also serves as a platform to showcase the wealth of global talent for India’s indigenous sport.”

Kabaddi rise continues 

The event has been backed by the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) and driven by the vision of Mashal Sports and JioStar. PKL has become a sporting powerhouse in India with the highest number of matches among all Indian sports leagues. PKL has redefined kabaddi’s image from just a rural backyard sport to a professional league drawing millions of viewers.

The auction marks the beginning of Season 12’s journey, a new chapter that promises fresh rivalries, dramatic finishes, and the same raw intensity that has defined PKL over the years.
