Kesari Chapter 2 box office collection:
Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan’s Kesari Chapter 2 witnessed a modest Day 1 at the box office, opening with single-digit earnings. Despite the hype, the film’s slow start raises questions about its weekend performance and audience reception ahead.
New Delhi:
Karan Singh Tyagi’s courtroom historical drama, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, has made a modest start at the box office. The latest Dharma film is set against the backdrop of one of colonial India’s darkest chapters.
Kesari 2 box office collection Day 1:
Despite high anticipation and positive early reviews, Kesari Chapter 2 minted Rs 7.5 crore. The film couldn’t surpass the day-one earnings of Akshay’s previous patriotic release, Sky Force, which had minted Rs 12.25 crore. However, industry insiders believe strong word-of-mouth and weekend growth could boost the film.
Directed by debutant Karan Singh Tyagi and backed by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films, the film blends history with courtroom tension.
Whether Kesari Chapter 2 can hold its ground and deliver box office success will depend on audience reception in the coming days. For now, it’s a steady start to a story that demands to be told.
Kesari Chapter 2 review:
News9Live’s review of Kesari Chapter 2 read, “But this was not a film that asked for tears. It asked for anger. The kind of anger that wakes, questions, and demands.
The kind of anger that refuses to be pacified with symbolic gestures. The screenplay, co-written by Karan and Amritpal Singh Bindra, avoided sentimentality. Instead, it was designed to provoke, to educate, and to ignite.
Dialogues penned by Sumit Saxena were delivered not with melodrama, but with the weight of lived truth—none more so than when Akshay’s character declared – The empire is shrinking.”
The cast sees Akshay play C. Sankaran Nair, the fearless lawyer who challenged the British Empire to expose the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. R. Madhavan steps into the role of Advocate Neville McKinley, while Ananya Panday plays journalist Dilreet Gill, a fictional voice of resistance.
