Kedarnath Temple opens for pilgrims

The sacred Kedarnath Temple opened to thousands of pilgrims with grand floral decorations and a newly introduced Ganga-style aarti—see captivating images and videos from Day 1.

New Delhi:

The Shri Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand opened its doors to pilgrims on Friday at 7 am. Located over 11,000 feet high in the Himalayas, the temple welcomed more than 12,000 devotees who came to witness this important event. In this article, let us look at the first day of Kedarnath.

To celebrate, the temple was decorated with 108 quintals of 54 different types of flowers, including roses and marigolds, brought from Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.

This third temple in the Char Dham circuit will open after the winter break. The Gangotri and Yamunotri temples opened on April 30, and the Badrinath temple will open on May 4.

Kedarnath will feature a grand “aarti” this year, similar to the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. According to BKTC CEO Vijay Thapliyal, it will occur where the Mandakini and Saraswati rivers meet.

The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) officials announced that the temple gates opened at 7 am.
