Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) slipped to their fourth defeat in a row in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after a 7-wicket loss against Gujarat Titans (GT) at their home on Sunday, April 06. SRH owner Kavya Maran was left disappointed after her team’s abysmal batting display, and her reaction to opener Abhishek Sharma’s failure went viral on social media.

Sunrisers Hyderabad went on a record-breaking spree in IPL 2024 last year, thanks to some sensational batting from the opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek. They further strengthened their batting line-up in the IPL 2025 mega auction and added more firepower in the form of Ishan Kishan and Aniket Verma, among others.

Sunrisers Hyderabad endure woeful run in IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who finished as runners-up last season, have endured a woeful run in IPL 2025 with four defeats in five matches. On Sunday, it was another failure from their powerful batting line-up which led to a crushing defeat against the Gujarat Titans. Batting first, SRH got off to a shaky start as they lost both their openers cheaply in the Powerplay.

Ishan Kishan was once again dismissed cheaply on 17 off 14 balls, while Heinrich Klaasen could only manage 27 off 19 balls. Nitish Reddy’s sluggish 31 and Pat Cummins’ cameo of 9-ball 22 helped SRH post a fighting total of 152 runs on the board. However, they didn’t have enough runs on the board, and GT made light work of the target with the help of a cracking 43-ball 61 from skipper Shubman Gill.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table with just two points from five matches this season.

However, barring their season opener against the Rajasthan Royals, SRH’s batters have failed to fire as a unit. Abhishek has endured a disappointing run with just 51 runs from five matches so far this season. The explosive left-hander flopped once again against GT on Sunday as he was dismissed cheaply on just 18.

Kavya Maran, who was watching from the stands at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad, was left visibly frustrated as her reaction to Abhishek’s dismissal caught the attention of many on social media. The SRH owner’s reaction also depicted the mood around the team as they struggle to replicate their form from last season.
