Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband and renowned industrialist, Sunjay Kapur, passed away at the age of 53 following a heart attack in the UK. He suffered a heart attack while he was playing polo and breathed his last on Thursday (June 12). According to India Today sources, the incident occurred during a match, and immediate medical attention could not save him.

In 2016, Karisma Kapoor filed a domestic violence case against Sunjay Kapur and his mother, accusing them of physical abuse. The actress also claimed that Sunjay had an extramarital affair. She also filed a dowry case, and the duo underwent an ugly divorce and custody battle. Later, Karisma Kapoor got the custody of both her kids.

Earlier today, Sunjay Kapur even reacted to the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash and wrote on X, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour.

🙏 #planecrash.” Sunjay Kapur was previously married to Karisma Kapoor, with whom he has two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. He was married to Priya Sachdev. News9 tried to contact Saif Ali Khan. However, there was no response.

Sunjay Kapur passed away on Thursday (June 12) after suffering from a heart attack while playing polo in the United Kingdom. He served as Managing Director of Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd from 2015 to 2019. He also founded Five Rivers Hospitality Group.

He was first married to Nandita Mahtani, but his marriage ended before 2003. On September 29, 2003, he married Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor and got divorced in 2016. In her divorce petition, the actress accused him of domestic violence and mentioned a disturbing honeymoon incident where he allegedly tried to “auction” her to his friends.

In April 2017, he married Priya Sachdev. They have two children, Azarias and Priya’s daughter Safira from her previous marriage.

Actor and author Suhel Seth paid condolences to Sunjay on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur : he passed away earlier today in England: a terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomsta …Om Shanti.”
