According to NDTV, family members of Sunjay have said that the legal formalities will take time, and therefore, his last rites will be delayed too. As reported before, Sunjay’s death was all of a sudden; he died while playing a polo match in the UK.
Sunjay Kapur, who is the ex-husband of Karishma Kapur, died on June 12 in London. According to the reports, the late industrialist’s last rites will be delayed. The delay will be because of the legal formalities, as he was a US citizen.

Businessman Sunjay Kapur, the former spouse of actress Karisma Kapoor and a close friend of Prince William, passed away on June 12 during a polo match in England. Initial reports indicated that the 53-year-old Sunjay died from a heart attack he experienced while playing polo. Later reports suggested that the heart attack might have been triggered by an unusual incident involving a bee sting. However, there has not yet been an official confirmation regarding the exact cause of death.
Further details about Sunjay Kapur’s life reveal that he was married three times and had three children. His first marriage took place in 1996 to fashion designer Nandita Mahtani, lasting four years. Subsequently, he wed actor Karisma Kapoor in 2003, and the couple had two children, Samaira (19) and Kiaan (13). In 2014, Karisma and Sunjay filed for divorce by mutual consent, which was finalized in 2016. Following their separation, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017, and they had one son named Azarias. At the time of his death, he was still married to Priya.
Sunjay Kapur’s last rites delayed
Sources said ”The complication arises from the fact that Sunjay was a US citizen who passed away in the UK, leading to an extended legal process before his body can be flown to India for the final rites.” While Ashok Sachdev, who was Sanjay Kapur’s father-in-law, said, “The postmortem is currently underway. Once the paperwork is complete, the body will be brought to India for the last rites.”
