Indian cricketer KL Rahul on Monday, March 24, welcomed his first child along with wife Athiya Shetty. The 32-year-old player took to his social media platforms to make the special announcement.

A graphic design poster portrayed two white swans on the top and the text followed ‘BLESSED WITH A Baby Girl’ with the dateline mentioned as 24.03.2025.

Rahul joined the Capitals squad ahead of the season, but there was no confirmation over his availability for the first match, according to captain Axar Patel and new head coach Hemang Badani in the press conferences before the match. It was reported that the player might miss the Lucknow contest owing to personal reasons.

Rahul was purchased by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 14 crores. This was after he was released from LSG’s squad after spending three seasons with the franchise, where he was the captain of the team.

The player was part of India’s Champions Trophy triumph in the United Arab Emirates. He scored 140 runs at an average of 140 given that he was not out in three innings. He was unbeaten on 34 in the final match against New Zealand.
