Indian hackers claim breach of Pakistan’s tax database, leak 150GB data

Indian hacktivist group claims it has breached Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue IRIS portal, leaking 150GB of taxpayer data. The alleged leak includes CNICs, addresses, and tax records, deepening the India-Pakistan cyber conflict.

New Delhi:

The missiles have stopped for now, but a new battlefront is exploding in cyberspace. Days after India’s Operation Sindoor struck nine terror-linked sites inside Pakistan and PoK, hacker groups from both countries have taken the fight online.

On Thursday morning, Indian Cyber Force, a group that recently posted hacked CCTV footage from Pakistan, dropped another bombshell. In a social media post, the group claimed it had breached the IRIS portal of Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue allegedly stealing over 150GB of sensitive taxpayer data.

A war of ones and zeroes

They also claimed to have  Assam, sparking serious privacy concerns.

In a tit-for-tat, Indian Cyber Defense leaked data from Pakistan’s Islamia University of Bahawalpur and shared multiple CCTV hacks from what appeared to be civilian and government buildings.

And now, the reported FBR breach.

This isn’t the first time hackers have jumped into the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions. Earlier, Pakistan Cyber Force claimed attacks on India’s MES, MP-IDSA, and AVNL, while Islamic hacktivist groups like Nation of Saviors and Sylhet Gang launched DDoS attacks on Indian government portals.

What’s next?

A leak like this doesn’t just embarrass governments. It puts regular people at risk. CNICs, phone numbers, and addresses are the kind of data that can be exploited for scams, identity theft, or worse.

Cyber experts we spoke to say this level of exfiltration would require deep access, either through a zero-day vulnerability or compromised credentials.

If the data is real, the breach could have major implications. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is the heart of Pakistan’s tax system. Its IRIS platform holds records of millions of taxpayers, including politicians, businesses, and common citizens.

Cyber attacks are now part of real war

In this India-Pakistan standoff, hackers are becoming unofficial foot soldiers. With AI tools, automated payloads, and digital propaganda, cyber skirmishes are now shaping narratives as much as real airstrikes.

We’ll continue monitoring this developing story as we verify the leaked FBR data. For now, it’s clear: in 2025, war isn’t just being fought on borders. It’s playing out in browsers, servers, and Telegram channels too.
