Speaking to ANI in Amritsar, Maj Gen Seshadri said the Army was undergoing a “focused transformation” and embracing cutting-edge technologies to neutralise threats across domains. “The Indian Army remains steadfast on the path of modernisation and focused transformation, of which indigenisation is a significant component for self-reliance,” he said.

Major General Kartik C Seshadri, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s 15 Infantry Division, on Sunday underlined the force’s commitment to modernisation and self-reliance, with a strong focus on indigenisation and integrated defence capabilities.

The Indian Army demonstrated how AKASH missile and other air defence systems protected Golden Temple, Punjab cities from Pakistani drone, missile attacks.

Army’s defence revamp

He highlighted the government’s push for reforms, saying that the Defence Minister has declared 2025 as the “year of reforms”, while the Army Chief has termed the current decade as the “enduring decade of transformation”. The Army, the commander said, has developed a multi-layered air defence system equipped with all-weather platforms. “Detection and targeting at various ranges, day and night surveillance, tracking systems and fire control radars, with a suitable mix of guns and missiles, give us comprehensive capability,” he said.

He also spoke about the AKASH system—an indigenously developed network integrating resources from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. “It gives us a common air picture, enabling faster decision-making and effective targeting of hostile aerial threats,” he added.
