India, Saudi Arabia share common interest in safeguarding peace, stability

The Prime Minister, while highlighting the shared ambitions between the two countries on economy, noted that the trade between both nations increased significantly despite global challenges in different areas like agriculture, energy, and fertilisers.

New Delhi: 

India and Saudi Arabi share a common interest in safeguarding stability and peace in the region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said. He also described the kingdom as a trusted friend of India.

Speaking to Arab News ahead of his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister pointed out that bilateral ties between the two countries have expanded significantly since the creation of the Strategic Partnership Council in 2019.

‘Trade between both countries increased significantly’

“Every time I have met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, it has left a deep impression on me. His insights, his forward-thinking vision, and his passion for fulfilling the aspirations of people of his country are truly remarkable,” PM Modi added.

The Prime Minister, while highlighting the shared ambitions between the two countries on economy, noted that the trade between both nations increased significantly despite global challenges in different areas like agriculture, energy, and fertilisers. He also hailed the deep integration of Saudi and Indian businesses, especially in sectors like technology and green hydrogen.

PM Modi on IMEEC initiative

Speaking about IMEEC initiative he added, “This corridor will define the future of connectivity in all forms for centuries to come. It will become a major catalyst of commerce, connectivity and growth in the entire region. This corridor will increase connectivity in all forms, be it physical or digital.”

“The corridor will help in enhancing trade ease and improve trade facilitation. It will increase efficiency, reduce costs, enhance economic integration, create jobs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, leading to transformational integration of Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Both India and Saudi Arabia have an important role in the success of this corridor. We are committed to working with our Saudi partners to realise the vision of connectivity, including multi-modal logistics connectivity, data connectivity and electrical grid connectivity. We are working on clean and green hydrogen and related supply chains under this initiative.”
