ICC re-appoints Sourav Ganguly as men’s cricket committee chairperson
Sourav Ganguly will continue as the chairperson of the ICC men's cricket committee along with his former teammate VVS Laxman as one of the panel members.
New Delhi:
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been re-appointed as the chair of the men’s cricket committee, as confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday.
Ganguly will head a six-member panel that focuses on enhancing the quality of cricket along with its future prospects around the globe.
Ganguly had taken over the role in 2021 from Anil Kumble, his former teammate, who stepped down after completing three, 3-year terms as the committee chair. Other than the troika, the panel includes Hamid Hassan, Desmond Haynes, and Jonathan Trott.
Ganguly’s most recent assignment was as the Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals Women’s team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which made it to the final earlier this year. The ICC also reappointed VVS Laxman, along with Ganguly, as one of the members of the panel.
There’s a surprise addition to the panel as well, in the form of Temba Bavuma, the current ODI and Test captain of South Africa.
