Hyderabad: Woman jumps off moving train to escape rape attempt

A 23-year-old woman jumped off a moving MMTS train to escape rape attempt on the outskirts of Hyderabad over the weekend, reports said.
She jumped off the train when a 25-year-old man attempted to rape her near Kompally, resulting in severe bleeding injuries. She is receiving treatment at Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad, reports said.
The Railway Police has booked the man under U/s 131, section 75 of the BNS on the complaint of the woman on Sunday.
The young woman, who lives in a hostel in Medchal, had come to Secunderabad to get her phone repaired. She boarded the Tellapur-Medchal MMTS train to go back to her hostel.
Speaking to, Railway SP Chandana Deepti said, “A young man tried to rape a woman travelling in an MMTS train after making obscene remarks. The woman got scared and jumped off the train. The young woman is currently undergoing treatment.
We have formed four teams to find out which railway station the man boarded. Due to construction, some CCTV cameras are not working but we will inquire about the security staff in the women’s coach. We will bring it to the attention of South Central Railway officials.”
