Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan condemn India’s strike on Pakistan

Hania Aamir was one of the first Pakistani celebrities to speak out on the Pahalgam terror attack. Things did not fare well for her as her social account, along with that of many other Pak celebs, was later banned in India. She has now also reacted to India’s strike on Pakistan that took place late last night, reportedly calling it “cowardly”

New Delhi:

The Indian government late night night confirmed late-night strikes on Pakistan, terming them as “measured, precise and non-escalatory” strikes aimed at terror infrastructure. The attack comes as a retaliation for the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir.

Hania Aamir, who had come to symbolise the Pakistan-India celebrity crisis post the Pahalgam attack, reportedly also reacted with a one-word post on her Instagram story, in which she called India’s action “Cowardly.”

Hania was one of the first Pakistani actors to speak on the Pahalgam terror attack. She has legions of fans in India and after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, Indian fans took to social media to shout their concern on whether Hania has had water or not.

This escalated to a level that some Indian fans tried to send bottles of water to Aamir. Her reaction against India is thus important.

Pak celebs react:

An interesting and significant string of reactions have come from Pakistani celebrities, principally actors like Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan.

Many of these Pakistani celebrities who were popular in India had their social media accounts geo-restricted in the country following the Pahalgam terror attack that took place on April 22.

Instagram accounts of celebrities like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Hania Amir and Ali Zafar were banned. Some Pakistani cricketers have also had their social media accounts blocked in India. “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content” was the message in place of their profiles.

Now after India’s retaliatory strike on Pakistan last night, actor Mahira Khan reposted writer Fatima Bhutto’s tweet criticising the strikes and wrote on her Instagram story, “Seriously cowardly!!! May Allah protect our country, may better sense prevail. Ameen.”

Reactions to the attack have been coming in from everywhere, be it ordinary people, world leaders, diplomats or celebrities.
