Grace not age, Demi Moore selected as PEOPLE mag Most Beautiful Woman
Veteran Hollywood actor Demi Moore is having her moment. After receiving massive acclaim for her Oscar nominated film ‘The Substance’, she is now again in headlines as she shatters beauty standards and conventions, being selected as PEOPLE magazine’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman
New Delhi:
Demi Moore has been selected as PEOPLE magazine’s ‘World’s Most Beautiful Woman’. A coveted title, which many may have thought would go to someone else, someone younger who confirms more to current beauty standards. Maybe Zendaya or Florence Pugh, both of whom had a great 2024 or Mikey Madison who won the Best Actress Oscars.
Yet the title has been won by Moore, symbolic of the changing mores of Hollywood’s stance on beauty standards, and how the ever-eternal correlation between youthfulness and beauty is slowly fading.
An illustrious career
Moore earned her first Oscar nomination for her role in the 2024 film The Substance and while she lost to Mikey Madison for her role in Anora, someone way younger than her, she has been celebratory of Madison’s success as well.
Demi Moore has had a long-standing career in Hollywood, one in which she has had ample critical acclaim and commercial success. She began her career as a model and made her screen debut with the soap opera General Hospital. She then became a household name with roles in the films Blame It on Rio and St. Elmo’s Fire, further cementing her status as a star with hits like A Few Good Men and Indecent Proposal.
Breaking beauty standards and stereotypes
Moore’s selection as PEOPLE magazine’s ‘World’s Most Beautiful Woman’ goes hand in hand with the celebration of her role in The Substance and her cultural resurgence. This celebration of Moore, has been abrupt and cannot be explained solely by the success of her film The Substance. It symbolises a major change in how popular culture today is slowly moving away from preexisting beauty standards.
The stronghold of contorted imagery of beauty and its unending association with youthfulness seems to finally be waning, and Demi Moore has come to symbolise this change better than anyone else in the current cultural landscape. Her PEOPLE magazine’s ‘World’s Most Beautiful Woman’ is only further proof of this.
