Govt asks airlines to ensure no surge in Srinagar airfares

A day after the dastardly terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam, Civil Aviation Ministry on Wednesday directed the airlines to ensure there is no surge in flight tickets to Srinagar and asked to maintain regular fare levels.

A day after the dastardly terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Civil Aviation Ministry on Wednesday directed the airlines to ensure there is no surge in flight tickets to Srinagar and asked to maintain regular fare levels.

Following the terror attack on Tuesday, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu held a meeting with all airline operators and strongly advised the airlines to not raise the flight tickets on the Srinagar route.

Meanwhile, airlines have also announced to operate more fights to Srinagar. Air India and IndiGo have confirmed to operate a total of four additional flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday. The two major airlines in the domestic sector have also waived ticket rescheduling and cancellation charges.

After the meeting an official advisory was issued which directed the airlines to charge regular ticket price, ensuring that no passenger is burdened during this sensitive time.

Shutdown in Kashmir to protest against Pahalgam terror attack

Organisations from all the sections of society condemned the terror attack and supported the bandh call to protest the killings in Pahalgam tourist resort Kashmir valley. Terrorists attacked a prime tourist location in Pahalgam on Tuesday, which left 26 people dead, mostly tourists. The security forces have heightened their presence across the valley, especially at vital tourist spots.

Meanwhile, heavy security deployment has been ensured at vital installations, important tourist spots and the entry and exit points of the city as well as other districts. The forces have raised several check-points across the city as well as other districts.

Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, the local trade and tourism bodies, and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries called for a shutdown.
