Google changes its logo in 10 years! Can you find the change?

Google has updated its main ‘G’ logo for the first time in a decade, replacing solid colours with a new design. Here is what has been changed.

The new gradient design is easier on the eyes, especially across modern screens and devices. It’s meant to blend better with the visual style of today’s apps and user interfaces. If you see it side-by-side with the older one, you’ll notice it feels just a bit more current.

Why Change It Now?

In other words, this small tweak is part of a larger branding shift. Google seems to be signaling that AI is becoming central to its products—and it wants the design to reflect that shift.

This isn’t just a style update—it’s about where Google is headed. Over the last year or so, the company has been leaning heavily into artificial intelligence, with tools like Gemini leading the way. If you’ve seen Gemini’s logo, you’ll notice it already uses a blue-to-purple gradient. The new ‘G’ fits right into that design language.

Can’t find it? Here’s why

The updated ‘G’ is slowly rolling out. If you use an iPhone, you might already spot it in the Google Search app. On Android, those running the beta version (16.18) of the Google app might see it too. Pixel phone users are among the first to get the new look, the report added.

Will other Google logos change too? As of now, the full Google wordmark—the “Google” text logo—remains untouched. And there’s been no news about other apps like Gmail, Chrome, or Maps getting a design update.

Still, if this gradient trend continues, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a broader visual refresh across more of Google’s services. It looks like this is just the beginning of a larger shift.

But don’t worry if you still see the old logo—that’s normal. The rollout is gradual, and Google hasn’t announced an exact timeline for when it’ll show up everywhere. Chances are, more users will start noticing the change over the next few weeks.
