I Kill You: Gautam Gambhir Receives Death Threat Email From 'ISIS' Death Threat Email From 'ISIS'

Indian cricket team's head coach Gautam Gambhir reportedly received threatening emails, a police source said on Thursday.

New Delhi:

"Gautam Gambhir is already a Delhi Police protected, and we do not comment on specific security arrangements," the officer said in the statement.

Gambhir, a former BJP MP, reportedly received two threat mails reading "I KILL YOU" from a sender identifying as "ISIS Kashmir", police sources said.An email complaint regarding the threats was received at the Rajinder Nagar police station along with screenshots of the threat emails.

Amid the Pahalgam terror attack, Gautam Gambhir, India's senior men's cricket team head coach, has reportedly received a death threat via email, Delhi Police said on Thursday, April 24.The threats were reportedly received a couple of days before, April 22, the same day terrorists killed several tourists, including a few foreigners, in Kashmir's Pahalgam. 26 civilians died after terrorists opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran meadow, making it one of the most horrific incidents since the 2019 Pulwama terror strike.

"We have been informed about an alleged threat mail received on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The matter is being investigated," DCP (Central) M Harsha Vardhan said in a statement.

"Dear Sir, Namaskar. As we spoke, please find below the 'Threat Mails' received on the mail ID of Mr Gautam Gambhir (Ex-MP), Head Coach, Indian Cricket Team. Kindly register the FIR accordingly and ensure the safety and security of the family," the complaint read.

Gambhir on Tuesday had condemned the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. "Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam," wrote Gambhir on his X handle.

This isn't the first time that Gambhir has been threatened. In 2022, he received similar threats, prompting the authorities to tighten his security measures.

Gambhir, who was appointed as the Indian cricket team's head coach last year, is currently enjoying a holiday from his national duty as the Indian cricket team coaches are not allowed to be involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Recently, India ended their 12-year Champions Trophy drought after the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team thrashed New Zealand in the final.

Gambhir is reportedly set to fly to England with the India A squad ahead of India's tour of England in June for a five-match Test series, starting from June 20.
