Bengaluru: 

 The Chikkajala Police, in coordination with the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB), arrested a Nigerian woman named Princes (25) for possession of 5.325 kg of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) crystals worth approximately Rs 10 crore. The arrest was made on Tuesday, June 10, following a tip-off, police said on Friday.

According to the police, the accused had entered India via Delhi on a business visa a few years ago and had recently arrived in Bengaluru by bus with the drug consignment. Along with the narcotics, the police recovered an iPhone, and a bag filled with garments.

Accused entered Delhi on business visa

The accused arrived in India on October 4, 2021, on a business visa. Although she claimed she came to pursue education in Telangana, she was never admitted to any college. Police are now investigating her network and any possible connections in the drug trafficking chain.

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed the arrest and said, “The MDMA drug is worth about Rs 10 crore. The offender we arrested is a foreigner who, as per preliminary reports, landed in Delhi a few years ago and came to Bengaluru with this consignment. We are searching for linkages. He has claimed that he wanted to study in a Telangana college. Bengaluru city police, with other units, under the directions of the DG and IGP, is organising a huge rally and seminar on June 26th to create awareness about abuse of drugs”.

Appealing for public cooperation, he added, “We have a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. Whether on a small or large scale, such substances will not be allowed in the city.”

Officials said the name of the Telangana college mentioned by the accused is currently being verified. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.

In light of increasing drug-related cases, Bengaluru police have announced a citywide anti-drug awareness campaign with the theme “Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All.”
