Experts tell NTA amid JEE Main question paper errors uproar

The NTA's JEE Main 2025 Session 2 answer key has faced criticism due to alleged errors in at least nine questions across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Experts and coaching institutes have challenged these factual errors, urging the NTA to award grace marks or remove the problematic questions.

New Delhi:

The NTA has released JEE Main 2025 session 2 answer key and response sheet on April 11. It has allowed candidates to challenge the provisional answer key till April 13, 2025. After verifying the provisional JEE Main 2025 session 2 answer key along with question papers and recorded response sheet, many candidates and coaching institutes have started highlighting the errors. According to the sources, at least nine questions have been challenged.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which faced severe criticism over the conduct of entrance exams last year, finds itself in hot water again. It has been at the centre of fresh controversy over alleged irregularities in the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 exam.

At least 9 disputed questions

“A total of nine mistakes were made in the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 question paper, four of which were in Physics, three in Chemistry and two in Mathematics. These mistakes cannot be called discrepancies because they are factual errors,” said career guidance expert Ramesh Batlish.

“I urge the NTA to look into this issue seriously before it gets worse. If the mistakes are correct, the NTA should take the right decision by giving grace marks or removing all the problematic questions. The NTA must also work meticulously on the JEE Main cut-off and tie-breaking to ensure fairness of the results,” added Ramesh Batlish.

Jeewan Jyoti Agarwal, Academic head, IIT-JEE division, ALLEN Career Institute, said, “It was nice to see that accuracy was better than the previous JEE Main sessions. Out of a total of 675 questions, there are nine objections which is like one objection per paper, which is quite reasonable. In the January session, there were 17 objections out of which 8 challenges were accepted. Here it is important to understand the difference of opinion of the interpretation of the same sentence. That’s why every challenge is not accepted by the NTA. Although it is always better to have a hundred percent accurate paper, conducting nine papers and normalising their marks with almost no controversy is praiseworthy.”

Parents and students should note that the JEE Main answer key 2025 released on April 11 is provisional. The NTA will review the challenges received before issuing the final answer key. In JEE Main 2025 session 1, the NTA has dropped a total of 12 questions due to errors and raising concerns.

As the NTA is facing criticism for alleged irregularities in last year’s main entrance exams, candidates and parents are eagerly awaiting an official response to the recent JEE Main issue. Pressure is mounting on the NTA to not only resolve the latest controversy but also build credibility.
