Delhi metro ‘nuisance creator’ apprehended for viral video stunt

Delhi metro police has apprehended 25-year-old man Aakash Kumar after a video of him creating nuisance and disobeying the rules inside the Delhi metro went viral.

New Delhi:

A special team was formed under the supervision of senior police officials including ACP Sanjay Kumar and DCP Hareshwar V. Swami. The team, in coordination with DMRC staff, CISF personnel, and housekeeping staff, managed to trace and apprehend Aakash in Burari, Delhi, after circulating the viral video on their internal networks. Upon interrogation, Aakash revealed that he lives with his family in a rented home in Welcome, Shahdara, and is originally from Jaswant Nagar in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.

A 25-year-old man by the name of Aakash Kumar, has been apprehended by the Delhi Metro Police for creating a public nuisance inside a metro train. The arrest occurred after a video of him consuming what appeared to be alcohol and eating a peeled egg while onboard the metro went viral on social media. The arrest took place on April 8, 2025, and was reported by Senior Station Manager Amar Dev at Karkardooma Metro Station.

During the interrogation, it was revealed by Akash himself that the video was filmed on March 23 during a journey on the Pink Line between Welcome metro station in Shahdara and the Karkardooma Court metro station. He even confessed that he was attempting to mimic alcohol consumption using a soft drink, with the aim of gaining popularity on social media. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi Metro Police took the matter seriously, given the potential to disrupt public order and violate DMRC norms.

He holds a postgraduate degree (M.Com) from Delhi University. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him under Section 59 of the DMRC Act. Authorities have reiterated that such stunts not only pose a threat to the decorum and safety of commuters but also carry legal consequences. The Delhi Metro Police has urged commuters to report any such nuisance promptly and warned against misusing public transport for internet fame.
