Kerala :
The Shatru Samhara Puja is one of the most revered rituals at the temple and is performed by many, including politicians, seeking divine protection. Bhadrakali, an incarnation of Devi, is the main deity worshipped here. The temple is famous for its golden-sheathed sword, a symbol of enemy destruction, which is displayed once a year for devotees.
Actor Darshan recently visited the Madaikavu Sri Bhagavathy Temple in Kannur, Kerala, to perform the Shatru Samhara Puja, a ritual believed to ward off enemies and negative forces. Accompanied by his wife Vijayalakshmi and son Vinesh, Darshan participated in the special puja, which was conducted in the presence of Sri Bhagavathy, the temple’s presiding deity.
According to legend, Shiva’s devotee Parashurama threw his axe into the sea at Shiva’s request, creating land where Bhadrakali settled, making it a sacred site. Darshan’s visit highlights the temple’s spiritual significance and its deep-rooted traditions.
A total of eight special Shatru Samhara Pujas are conducted annually, including Rakta Pushpanjali, Bellada Payasam, Pushpanjali, and Trikala Pushpanjali Puja. The rituals, held at 12 noon and 6 pm, are highly secretive, allowing only the worshipper inside. Devotees believe this puja fulfills desires and removes obstacles.
